Our mission is to help families connect, heal, and grow through the use of creative approaches and evidence-based practices. We offer a range of specialized services for children, youth and families including: Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Expressive Arts, and Trauma Treatment (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing - EMDR).

Katie is a bachelor’s level Registered Social Worker (RSW) through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has been working diligently to obtain her Masters in Social Work (MSW) through Dalhousie University. Katie is currently completing her field placement at Aimee MSW Therapy & Consultation as the final step in achieving her master’s degree. She is also a Play Therapy Intern completing foundation level training in child and play therapy through the Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT) in efforts to work towards becoming a certified play therapist. Katie has undergone 90 hours of foundational play therapy training to be able to incorporate play therapy techniques with her work with children and youth.

Katie has over a decade of experience in the field of social work and has been privileged to support and work with children, youth, adults and families in a variety of settings ranging from community-based to frontline social work. She has worked in various settings such as domestic violence shelters, community youth centres, children’s summer camps, healthcare settings, and school settings. Katie has experience supporting children and youth both individually and in groups. In addition to having professional experience supporting children in a social work setting, Katie is also a mother to two young children and understands firsthand how wonderful yet challenging raising children can be.

Katie supports children and youth who are struggling with anxiety and/or depression, negative body-image or low self-esteem, or dealing with the effects of trauma. She also supports children who are struggling with emotional regulation, or having difficulty with significant life changes or transitions. In addition, Katie provides parent consultation sessions to help parents and guardians feel equipped to support their children through these tough times.

Aimee is a Child, Youth and Family Therapist, master’s level Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Certified Play Therapist (CPT). Aimee has been dedicated to supporting children, teens, and families since 2008. Throughout her career, Aimee has had the privilege to journey alongside families in hospital, community mental health, and school settings. Aimee primarily sees clients under 18 years of age.

Aimee believes that families are the experts of their own experience, and that children and youth have innate wisdom about their own thoughts and feelings. Aimee’s goal is to create a supportive space for this wisdom to come forward, fostering healing and resilience that extends beyond the therapy space.

Aimee’s individual work with children and teens is complimented by evidence-based parent consultation; equipping caregivers with tools to better understand their child’s behaviour, strengthen family bonds, and co-create solutions to problems.
